Gentrifying Neighborhoods in Major U.S. Cities

Billie Borden - Spring 2009

Lost Angeles contains the “Unique case” cluster, though its spatial context does not give it much deeper meaning. The core of the city has some tracts that are experiencing gentrification, though the trends in this cluster appear to better characterize the tracts in the surrounding area. Many of the tracts in LA are defined by their slightly above or slightly below average trends in population characteristics, or their lack of growth in per capita income.
